Gone Blank.

Have you ever just completely blanked out?
When you see someone you know... and have known forever, and all of a sudden you can't remember their name?
Or on a test... you KNOW you know the question, but for the life of you, you can't remember what the answer is?

Well yesterday, I had an interview with a Pharmacy school and as they asked me questions I did pretty well... up until the very last one.

It was a question that involved the word integrity... and I totally blanked.
I KNOW I know what integrity means, but at that moment in time I couldn't for the life of me think of the definition and how to use the word. So I babbled.

And you know when you start babbling, and then start realizing in your head you're making no sense? But at that point it's too late to start over, because let's face it: You're committed. So you just quickly try to figure out a way to end your little nonsense spiel before it gets too out of control.

Yeahhhh.. that's how my interview ended yesterday.

I'm so embarrassed.

In interview settings I get so nervous, I don't like the unexpected. I know I can answer most things they throw my way, but it's the whole concept of not being prepared for what they throw at me that terrifies me. You have to be so quick on your feet. Those cliche interview questions always throw me, like "what is your biggest regret and why?" You have to run through your life in a matter of seconds and find your example. It's brutal. And SO draining. You have to avoid saying "ummmm," while you're trying to think your way through your answer. I feel like my mind got a serious workout in that little room for 30 minutes.

I know mastering interviews is an art. And I look at it as, this interview just makes me more prepared for those I may have in the future. But I'll tell you one thing, I will NEVER forget what integrity means again. EVER. ;)

Do you have any interview disaster stories?
Or are you an interview pro who has some great tips?

Get Your Fitness on with Beachbody!

It's January, which generally means everyone is trying to stick to their resolutions of losing weight, getting active, and hitting the gym.

And if there's anything I dislike... it's a crowded gym.
It's hard enough sometimes getting the motivation to put on the workout clothes, then drive in the cold to the gym, only to find that the place is packed and there's barely room for you to workout.

Emily from Beachbody contacted me to let you all know about some awesome new programs they have available for you and your fitness.

Beachbody is the brand behind P90x, and having used P90x before.. I can honestly say, this stuff will get you IN SHAPE.

Brazil Butt Lift Master Series:
Just watching the video on this site makes this it look like fun. I've been doing an aerobics class this semester, and this workout seems like it would be pretty similar. Simple moves, but they'll leave you sore the next day. And it's a 30-day workout, you can't beat that.

INSANITY: The Asylum Volume 2:
If you're wanting to take your fitness up a notch, this would be the workout for you. The name says it all. It literally seems to target every area of your body, and given how weak my upper body is.. this set would be perfect to strengthen my arms AND my legs. The workout lengths vary, with some being 60 minutes, and others being 30-40 minutes.

Les Mills Pump:
This workout appeals to me because the workouts are short. I don't have a lot of extra time in my day between work, classes, and studying. With 30 minute high intensity cardio workouts.. you can get it in easily and be done for the day. The body bench and added weights can help intensify the workouts, so you can always boost your cardio level.

P90X Certified Trainer:
Maybe your'e already familiar with P90X, or want to get more involved in helping other people achieve their fitness goals? This program helps you understand more about the anatomy & physiology, and the science and nutrition BEHIND these workouts. Being a nutrition science major, I can tell you firsthand how important it is to know the science behind all of the hard work you're putting in at the gym. It makes your workouts much more effective when you know how your body works and responds to different things. This 2-day online course is a great way to become more knowledgeable in these areas, and more confident in your athletic training.

Given what we pay for gym memberships, the prices are pretty affordable. And with the payment options, it's even easier. Check them out, and see what interests you!

New Year's

Well, I said I'd be better with my posting... and I'm behind.
I never got around to blogging about New Year's because I was soaking up my last few days of break... and studying for the beloved PCAT, yet again.

New Year's we didn't make plans.
Because what always happens when you make plans?
They don't end up happening.. at least with my crazy group of friends that's the case.
So we just planned to head downtown and run into who we run into.
And it worked JUST fine.

Ben came to Athens for New Year's too.. so Jasmine, Ben, and I headed to a small low-key bar before midnight so we could actually talk and move around. And then we met up with the rest of our friends at some other bars as the night progressed.

Downtown Athens was so packed, and with an overload of sequins and stilettos that girls couldn't walk in. It provided some WONDERFUL entertainment. By the time the bars closed most girls were walking around barefoot, and clothes were being lost. (yikes!)
Sometimes you just have to wonder what some girls are thinking...

In the process of trying to find a cab at 2AM we made a lot of friends, some of which are pictured above. ;) You really bond with people when you're all trying unsuccessfully to get a cab ride home, and IN the cab itself is always interesting too. Cab drivers are of a different breed.

All in all it was a wonderful way to ring in the New Year!
Hope your 2013 has been off to a wonderful start so far!

December

Well, December sure came and went.
Is it just me, or does Christmas time come and go faster and faster with age?
The older I get the more it seems to be just a blur.
As soon as it finally starts to feel like Christmas, it seems to be over.
And as a result... I have completely neglected to do any blogposts.

So as a New Year's goal, I hope to post more often than I have been. My fall blog posting was just pitiful.

Anyways... here's a break down of what all I've been doing over the past month.

We had Sarah's bachelorette party in Athens, and painted some lovely Christmas paintings. Then later in the month we had Sarah's rehearsal dinner, which was absolutely delicious. And thank you to Brice for making a silly face in our picture together. ;)

Then it was wedding time... and Sarah officially became a Mrs!! The wedding was gorgeous... I can't wait for you all to see her post about it soon.

The days we were actually home over Christmas break were all spent by the fireplace, in pajamas... and watching Grey's Anatomy. Me and mama are addicted, and feel as though we could be surgeons since we've been watching so many hours of it here lately. ;)

That's basically a brief sum of my December festivities. I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful Christmas with your families.. and that you rang in 2013 with a bang!
