Blog Snobs.

It's no secret that Blissdom sparked a lot of blog drama over the past few days. Twitter has been a battle ground, and posts referencing the conference have either been praised or torn to shreds.

I didn't attend Blissdom.
And honestly? I don't give a flying crap about it.
I used to think it was something that I would love to attend. To be able to meet so many of the wonderful bloggers I've come across in real life sounded like a dream.

I know for some Blissdom really was amazing, and being that I've never been... I don't want to cast judgment. I just don't see it being worth spending the money since I'm a broke college kid at this point.

But in response to the Blissdom drama, I have lost a lot of respect for multiple bloggers.
In fact, I've grown more and more irritated at the direction that blogging has been moving in lately.

When I first began blogging, I felt like everyone was so encouraging and sincere. Posts were written from the heart, and I literally fell in love with the world of blogging. I met so many incredible ladies, and literally did not skip a day when it came to posting and reading blogs.

But now, I feel like every other post in my feed on both bloglovin and twitter is begging for sponsorships. I get it, why not make money off of your blog if you can? However, when it gets to the point that none of your posts have substance anymore... I refuse to put up with all of your sponsorship begging. I'm over it. Blogging is now nothing but how many numbers you have, and the egos that go along with it.

Don't get me wrong, there are tons of bloggers out there who don't act like this. I've just grown frustrated with the behavior of some over the past few days, and I honestly feel like this is worse than any middle school or high school drama I've ever seen. The amount of hypocrisy floating around blog land and twitter makes me sick.

I want blogging to just be the way it used to be.
Is that too much to ask??

Vent session over.

2 Years of Blogging.

Today marks 2 years that I've been apart of the blogging community.
Boy, that is hard to believe.

I still remember sitting in my room reading blogs every night before I actually decided to join blogger, and I'm so thankful that I decided to take the plunge one night in my little shoebox room at Summer school.

I remember sitting down to write my first post, snapping pictures every time I went out to do things, and planning my blog posts during each of these outings. I remember when I got my FIRST follower. There is nothing like seeing that first little follower show up on your blog, and it just pushed me to pour my little heart out even more.

I can't believe how much my humble little blog has grown over these past two years, and I can't even begin to tell you how much each of you mean to me. I have been so lucky to have met so many of you wonderful ladies through this amazing blog land. :) And I feel privileged to be apart of something so unique and special because of ALL of you.

Thanks for being apart of my blogging journey, I can't wait to see what the next year holds.

What I'm Loving

Happy Wednesday!
I'm linking up with Jamie today to share what I'm loving!

Today I'm loving...

[one.]
all of you.
I can't even begin to express how much your sweet comments meant to me on my post Monday night. I've had such an emotional week, and the encouragement was very much needed. Blogging is such an incredible thing to be a part of, and I give thanks for being able to know all of you!

[two.]
I'm going to see Sarah this weekend.
I'm so excited to meet her fiance, since I have YET to do so. AND see that pretty ring in person! We're going thrifting... (one of my favorite things ever) and I couldn't be more excited.

[three.]
My Biochem Exam is over.
holy smokes.
talk about RELIEF.
but the studying is not over... I still have another test tomorrow AND a paper due.
does it ever end?!
;)

[four.]
this meme I saw on facebook.
pretty accurate description of a lot of college students.
and with that, I'm off to work.
Hope y'all are having a wonderful week!
and Happy Leap Day!

Meet the Author.

The oh so wonderful Neely is having a link-up today to share your blog, so I'm participating... and you should too. ;)

A 21-year old,
pre-pharmacy student at UGA.
I started my blog after reading blogs for a while, and as a way to document life's happenings as I go through my 20's (and whatever comes next in life).

I love spending time with friends, cooking, going to concerts, spending time at the lake, shopping, reading good books, and being a complete dork.

You'll read a lot about those things on here.

I like to think I'm a positive person, and I believe in the power of a good Thank You note. I love nights out on the town, but enjoy lounging in my PJ's watching a good movie JUST as much.

oh, and I have the cutest puppy in the whole wide world. ;)

You can check out some of my popular posts below:
Be You.
Blessed.
An embarrassing post.
My room.

I'm so excited Neely is hosting this link up, because I absolutely love finding new blogs! If you're new, I hope you'll stick around and follow my lovely nonsense life.. and comment so I can follow you back!

Be You.

Why blog?
I recently was going through the list of all of the blogs I follow, editing out some of the ones that have fallen off the face of the Earth and stuff. I have the longest list I follow.. so I tried to manage it somewhat. In the process I came across this post, and it broke my heart. Cue the tears. The girl speaks truth. And I can't tell you how many times I've had similar thoughts about the blogging world.

I've been all emotional lately, so that post really hit me hard.

It breaks my heart how the blogging world can make you feel so inferior at times.. and I really want that to change.

When you start thinking about it, blogs that are REAL can be hard to find.
I mean, I'm no saint.. I've blogged about a new pair of nice shoes I treated myself to.. and new nail polishes, and I don't mean to flaunt it by any means. But I've become SUCH  a jealous person over the course of my blogging.

Before blogging I didn't know half of these designer brands.
Now I covet them all like it's nobody's business...
and frankly, I'll probably never be able to actually afford them.

I'm not trying to target anyone in this post, and I love seeing everyone's outfits posts because it provides inspiration in my own closet!

But it's when EVERY single post is about something expensive you've bought, or you have your eye on, that it gets old.
Be real.
Blogging needs to come from your heart, it's not all about appearances.

I can't tell you how many blogs I've unfollowed because literally every post was about Lilly Pulitzer. Reading about your favorite Lilly pattern, or new Lilly dress gets old after a few days.
I digress.

I'm ashamed that I let some bloggers' posts affect my self-esteem about my closet, but also about my blog itself. I hit a major slump in the fall. I felt like I had nothing interesting to say, and every time I looked through my google reader it was filled with things I simply can't afford. Blogging used to make me feel good.. and it got to where it just made me mad because I knew I would never be able to have half the things I saw online each day.

Since the start of the year I've started getting back into blogging. I'm weeding out my google reader, and returning to the blogging attitude I had when I FIRST started this blog.

I started blogging because I wanted to document things I did through college.
I started blogging not caring about numbers.
I started blogging with zero followers.
I started blogging to share my story.
I started blogging for ME.

Don't blog for numbers, increasing your followers, or to try to please everyone else.
Blog for yourself.
Be Real.
Genuine, heartfelt posts are what inspired me to start my blog.
and what you may think is an ordinary, boring, or embarrassing post? remember that's what makes you REAL and relatable. Ultimately looking back, don't you want to be able to remember yourself, your thoughts, and the things you did... rather than the material objects?

This has just been heavy on my heart lately, and I wanted to share my thoughts.

WILW

I'm linking up today with Jamie for WILW!
 and today I'm loving...
[one.]
my new fur vest I got at Old Navy for 9 bucks.
what a steal!!!
Only, it was an Extra-Large... so I had it altered to fit me. ;)
I just can't pass up a deal like that!
and I wish this winter weather would ACT like winter weather for ONE day, that's all ask.. so I can wear it!

 [two.]
candles.
I have a mild candle obsession.
I love the ambiance they give off in a room... so last night while studying I went a little nuts with my candle lighting. ;)

 [three.]
That I'm getting back into blogging again.
For a while there I hit a big slump.. and just didn't care to do it anymore. It felt like a chore more than a fun hobby. I've noticed a lot of people's "Why I Blog" posts and they're such great reminders of WHY I started blogging. May have to be a future post... we'll see. But I'm glad to be back and enjoying it again!

 [four.]
My family.
I've been feeling a little homesick for the first time this school year. I haven't spent as much time at home as I used to, I usually breeze in and right back out between work and school... so I'm ready to spend some time with them this weekend.

what are you loving today?
