Which is a little hard to digest.. I still remember the day she was born when I finally grasped the concept of what being a "big sister" meant. I remember going to the hospital and getting to see her tiny little self for the first time... and I remember treating her like she was my real life baby doll. I loved helping take care of her. I was ALL about the big sister role.
Over the past few years I've realized how much of an influence an older sibling really has on their younger sibling's life. Mal asks me for advice on so many things, and since I've been away in college the past few years it's been hard missing out on a lot of her big events.
One of which is her senior pictures this weekend.
My parents are photographers, as most of you know, and so when it comes to Senior Portraits... these are a big deal in our home. As in, we prepared for these for months now. Finding all of her outfits, getting all of her accessories FOR the outfits, and planning it all out.
We believe having Senior Portraits taken is one of the highlights of Senior year. And since my dad does it for a profession... we have never really experienced the whole excitement of going somewhere to have OUR portraits taken, since we can just do it ourselves in the studio. :)
Well this weekend Mallory is up in Tennessee having her Senior Portrait Experience, and I'm absolutely devastated that I don't get to be a part of such a momentous occasion. She's been the little sister that has been there for EVERYTHING for me. And I don't get to be there for her, with classes and work it just wasn't feasible this time. (Responsibility stinks.) So I'm stalking instagram to see the pictures they post from the big trip this weekend... and anxiously await seeing her portraits when they're finished, I know they'll look AMAZING.
But above all else, I'm looking forward to this exciting time in her life. Senior year of high school was one of my favorite years. Touring and applying to colleges, ruling the school, Homecoming Court, Senior nights, Senior Festivities, and living it up on the weekends with friends... what's not to love? I was so carefree as opposed to now. And I'm looking forward to Mallory making all of these great memories at my Alma Mater too.
Boom. There's my sappy post.
Hope you're having a great weekend!

Aww this isn't sappy it's very, very sweet. I miss my younger sister being young and asking me for advice, thankfully I have my babysitting kids who do :) And thank goodness for Instagram for stalking purposes ;)
I LOVED doing my senior pictures!!! And I def planned my outfits/accessories months in advance. Love it! I can't believe it's been 7 years since I had my senior pictures done. That sounds like forever ago but I remember it like yesterday, ha!
aww i love this! it's so great that your parents make your senior pictures so special for you guys. i loved having them done! i worked for a photographer at the time, so she did mine :)
Your parents are Photographers? Well that explains why all of your photos *always* look so fabulous. And you really know how to look great in a photo.
What a sweet post to your sister. And I love that precious beach pic of you two! I'm a big sister to my big brother and I miss those days he'd come to me for advice on girls and what to wear on a date. He may not need my advice as much, but the older we get the closer we are. Wishing that for the 2 of you as well! :)
You're such a great big sister! So sweet! :)
Can't Wait to see them!!! I'm sure they'll be fantastic!
