Terrapin Twilight

This weekend was the Terrapin Twilight Criterium through downtown Athens.
Which summed up: a Criterium is a bike race held on a short course, usually less than a mile. The course for Twilight circles through downtown Athens, aka one of my favorite places on planet earth. ;)

It's a fun weekend. They have stuff planned for Friday night, as well as all day on Saturday and since it only comes once a year we took full advantage of it. They have live music, beer gardens, and tons of festival foods. People come in swarms and cover downtown, and the atmosphere is unlike anything else.

Friday night they held the Red Bull Chariot races, which were so much fun to watch. Basically it's a bunch of college guys who built crappy chariots out of random items, duct tape and even baby toys. The carts have only two wheels, must carry someone in the back, and they have to make two laps around the track. Many of them fell apart before the end of the course and the crowds were so fired up.

Saturday afternoon we headed down to see the BMX portion. I had only ever watched BMX on the X-games on TV, so it was crazy seeing these professionals doing these tricks in person. It makes me so nervous! My friend Clay took this shot during the event. Very cool stuff.

After that we killed some time at Ted's until the prelims started. The weather was supposed to be rainy and nasty, but it turned into such a nice day.. and Ted's is definitely one of the best places in Athens to enjoy a Spring afternoon.

The best place to watch the race was definitely down at the turn by the Georgia Theatre. Y'all, they go zooming by. And we saw a few wrecks... which of course gets everyone excited. The wrecks are enough reason for me not to ever do one of these races. ;)

Once the night races started we paid to get into one of the beer tent areas right at the curve by the theatre. It was well worth the money, we got access to one of the prime spots and had food and drinks right at our finger tips.

My parents and their wild friends joined us later in the night too, and kept us very entertained. It was such a fun weekend, and now that it's over I need a week to recover. But it's finals week.. so it's time to buckle down. I can't wait to be done come Friday so I can enjoy my few weeks of Summer before my summer class starts. Wooo!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Sorry for the picture overload :)

New Year's

Well, I said I'd be better with my posting... and I'm behind.
I never got around to blogging about New Year's because I was soaking up my last few days of break... and studying for the beloved PCAT, yet again.

New Year's we didn't make plans.
Because what always happens when you make plans?
They don't end up happening.. at least with my crazy group of friends that's the case.
So we just planned to head downtown and run into who we run into.
And it worked JUST fine.

Ben came to Athens for New Year's too.. so Jasmine, Ben, and I headed to a small low-key bar before midnight so we could actually talk and move around. And then we met up with the rest of our friends at some other bars as the night progressed.

Downtown Athens was so packed, and with an overload of sequins and stilettos that girls couldn't walk in. It provided some WONDERFUL entertainment. By the time the bars closed most girls were walking around barefoot, and clothes were being lost. (yikes!)
Sometimes you just have to wonder what some girls are thinking...

In the process of trying to find a cab at 2AM we made a lot of friends, some of which are pictured above. ;) You really bond with people when you're all trying unsuccessfully to get a cab ride home, and IN the cab itself is always interesting too. Cab drivers are of a different breed.

All in all it was a wonderful way to ring in the New Year!
Hope your 2013 has been off to a wonderful start so far!

Football

Saturday was the last home game of the season...
which always makes me sad.
Athens on game day is my favorite place to be, and this weekend we played Tech... and the Dawgs did us proud. ;)

It was a noon game, which is kind of the pits. But we made the best of it... mimosas are kind of my  new favorite thing now.

Saturday night we went downtown with friends and had a blast, as per usual.

Now why do weekends ever have to end??
The countdown to Christmas break has officially started... because I'm pretty much dreading class tomorrow morning.

Concert Season

We are back in Concert Season my friends.
As in, I have a butt load of concerts coming up in the next few weeks at the Georgia Theatre, and it makes my heart so happy.

Friday night we went to the Drive-By Truckers and it was such a great concert. Great friends, great venue, great band, all making it a great night. My hometown formed a huge portion of the crowd, so it was nice to dominate the floor. ;)

Grayson, Taylor, Me

My ears were ringing for a good 24 hours after that concert. Epic.

Did you guys have a great weekend?!

Summer School Sucks.. but nights out on the town make up for it!

The title of this post says it all.
I was feeling pretty low Friday night... Summer School seriously got the best of me.
You know when you're studying hard for something, and you feel like you're getting absolutely no where because the material is just SO overwhelming? Well yeah... that sums up the past 2 weeks of my life.

And Friday it really hit me that I'm tired of it.
I know it'll pay off in the end, but when you see all of your friends out having fun on Instagram, and you don't get to be apart of the fun it really bites.

SO I worked my little tail off and went out Saturday night to celebrate one of my friend's from High School's 21st birthday.

me, Candler (the birthday boy), and Elise

Best part of going downtown? Running into random people you know. I live for it.

Candid pictures make me laugh.

We ran into all of the boys from our hometown, who are always fun to be around.

but mostly me and Elise just had a blast hanging out.
It had been TOO long since I'd gone out with her, or anyone for that matter.

So next Saturday it's happening again when I don't have a test looming over my head.

Did you all have a great weekend?!

St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day this year doubled as a celebration for my friend Kasi's 21st
So we had a blast going around Athens, decked out in green attire.

and I loved being able to spend time with the girls I hardly get to see!

Some people get REEEEALLY in to the festivities. We saw multiple leprechauns and Sam got her picture with these two hotties ;)

How did YOU Spend St. Patrick's Day?

WILW

Joining Jamie for What I'm loving Wednesday today!

Today I'm loving...
[one.]
nights out in ATH with the girls!
last night we went out for FAT TUESDAY.. and barhopped the mess out of Athens. We visited more bars last night than I have all year. Nuts.

[two.]
that tonight I'm going to dinner with Ally!
We've hardly seen each other this year and it breaks my heart.

[three.]
Life.
I am just loving life right now.
Despite the stress of school, and balancing work with everything else..
I'm feeling so blessed with great friendships, and just all of the little things that make me smile on a daily basis. This semester I've tried to be more proactive in recognizing and giving thanks for the simple joys of daily life... and it has made me more positive. Count your blessings girls, we are lucky people!

Link up and share what you're loving!
