Making History.

WHAT a weekend.
Oh my word, what a weekend.
Friday night we had "Dawgs in the Park" at Six Flags, so UGA students had the park to themselves from 7 until midnight. It. Was. Awesome. Riding those roller coasters at night was so much more exhilarating than in the daylight. Other than the fact that we got stuck on the Georgia Scorcher for a good 35 minutes.. that's not fun.

Then on Saturday we got to be a part of history as they held the first concert EVER in Sanford Stadium. It was awesome. Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan... need I say more?

We got there a little early so we could tailgate for a bit before heading in.

AND I was so excited to finally be able to meet Kerri. I swear, blogging friends are some of the most wonderful people. She is sweet as pie in person, as you can imagine if you read her sweet blog. Jamie was there for the concert too, so we had a quick meet up before all heading in to the concert!

The stadium was packed, it made it feel like a game day... such a tease! 

We sang our little hearts out ALL night and then headed downtown. Seriously, why do weekends ever have to end??

Getting By

This semester, holy moly, this semester...
Keeping my head above water is the best way to sum it up.
Very minimal free time these days, so blog posts are few and far between.

BUT, I'm getting by.
Keeping my spirits lifted with good music on Spotify.
The Lumineers? My favorite right now.

Imagine Dragons... kind of digging them too.
I could listen to music all day long on there, I love discovering new artists.
So it's just PERFECT to use in the background while I'm studying.

Over the weekend I took a break from the books, and headed to Terrapin (a brewery in Athens) with my parents and some of their friends. Terrapin is one of my favorite places in Athens, the atmosphere is pretty cool... with the live music and strung up lights, it's a fun place to venture out and try new beers.

And then that night I got tickets to Sister Hazel at the Georgia Theatre for Ben and I for Valentine's Day. It was such a great show! Granted, with the Georgia Theatre and us Athens folks as your audience... it would be pretty hard to have a bad show. ;)

Ben Rector Concert

Ben Rector came to the Georgia Theatre this week for a Concert,
and could it have made my little heart any happier??
nope.

I've been looking forward to seeing him in concert since about this time last year, when Ally and I went to Atlanta for his concert. At that time the venue we saw him in was super small, and we ended up getting to meet him after the show. Not so much this time...

This time it was packed out, and a bigger venue for sure. It's amazing to see how much he's grown over the past year. No one knew his songs at last year's concert... this one, everyone was singing along. I just love it! He's up and coming my friends, if you don't know him... check him out NOW. And you can thank me later. ;)

It was also wonderful to run into these lovely ladies, blog friends turned in-real-life friends. Jessica and Jamie are THE sweetest.

It was such a great show! Can't wait to see Ben Rector again come Spring... when he hopefully comes to visit Athens again (fingers. crossed.)

Concert Season

We are back in Concert Season my friends.
As in, I have a butt load of concerts coming up in the next few weeks at the Georgia Theatre, and it makes my heart so happy.

Friday night we went to the Drive-By Truckers and it was such a great concert. Great friends, great venue, great band, all making it a great night. My hometown formed a huge portion of the crowd, so it was nice to dominate the floor. ;)

Today I'm loving...

[one]- That last night Jasmine and I went to Fuzzy's tacos downtown for Taco Tuesday. Nothing like an ice cold draft to finish off the day!

[two]- When we were walking downtown we passed Georgia Theatre, and saw some concert posters. This one caught my eye, Perpetual Groove? Definitely sounds like a show I need to see. 

One hour later, we got our tickets. I live for concerts.

[three]- Glee last night.

I loved the Whitney songs!!! 

Definitely one of my favorites this season. 

[four]- My job.

I work in a Pharmacy, for those of you who don't know, and it's a retail space located inside of a hospital. So it provides endless entertainment. Not only are my co-workers amazing, but I love all of our regular patients. Every day is something exciting :) I swear they need to make a TV show like the office, but called "The Pharmacy."

Sister Hazel

Georgia Theatre.

and my favorite concert venue. 

   last Thursday night we went to see Sister Hazel, and it was an incredible concert.

This school year I've been making an effort to go see more concerts, and Athens always has bands playing so it's been fun to go to shows!

but we  apparently looked like the "aisle" all night because we kept getting shoved by people trying to walk past. #annoying

If Sister Hazel comes to a city near you I definitely recommend going to see them! They were great live!

Concert Recap

Seeing as how I fell off the face of the earth with blogposts here lately,

I never had a chance to share with you the two concerts I went to last week.

  Tuesday night we went to Needtobreathe, and celebrated Ally's birthday!

 We had dinner at Speakeasy downtown before heading to the concert. If you like tapas, and are ever in Athens.. hit that place UP! ;)

AND then Thursday night was the crazy, WILD concert.

absolutely nuts, and so much fun.

that's one of their biggest hits so you can kind of be clued in on the funkiness I saw. ;)

    This was by far the craziest thing I've ever been to. There were so many random people on stage... like at least 30 people at a time. It looked like they got all the random homeless people around Athens and asked them to come sing on stage. and then the door on the side of the stage would open and MORE rand-o's would come out. 

Including this alien with a giant joint. Uhhh....

Creepy.

It was pretty much a cloud of smoke in there between all the people on stage sharing their joints, and the sketchballs around us. Eclectic people.

So if you really want a SHOW... go to a George Clinton and Parliament funkadelic concert.

Definitely loads of entertainment. ;)

That all of these sweet people helped me celebrate my birthday this past weekend! Tomorrow I'll have a post dedicated to our festivities! We had so much fun :)

Last night I purchased tickets to another Concert next week!!! :) I'm going to see Green River Ordinance, (LOVE their music), and Boyce Avenue. I can't wait! I'm really into concerting lately.. it's my new hobby I believe. All my spare change is going to these concerts.. I may be living off ramen soon.

I'm actually doing decent in Calc II. It's a miracle friends. I aced my quiz this week.. and I've been rocking the homework. #holla

My new RED cowboy boots that I got for my biiiiirthday. And I'm not lying when I say I'm loving them; I've been wearing them around my apartment with my nike shorts and t-shirts. I can't wait to rock them at a GA game soon!! :)

We're on a First Name Basis..

With BEN RECTOR!!!

That's right friends.

We met Ben Rector at the concert the other night... AND we got our picture with him AND a signed tour poster AND we were two people from touching the stage AND he may just replace my love for John Mayer. 

BEST. CONCERT. THIS. YEAR.

 

I had to work until 7 the night of the concert.. so we weren't able to head to Atlanta until later.. and we were a little late getting there. HOWEVER, Benny had not stepped out on stage yet, and I was determined to push our way to the front. Friends, we made it. Check this beauty out: 

He stole my heart. Too bad he had a wedding band on his left hand. :(

He was absolutely incredible.. and the venue was amazing. It was so intimate.. I definitely want to go to some more concerts there soon!

I just wish our picture with him could've turned out a LITTLE better.. but we had sweated through a concert at this point in the night.. rubbing elbows with folks we didn't know.. so I'll take it.

and we got a picture with the band. holllaaaaaa.

We got a little lost on our way there.. and on our way back. but all in all.. it was a blast! I just love concerts!!

Home Sweet Home

Finally done with this semester and home for the holidays! and boy does it feel good!

So what am I doing with myself since I don't have to study for the first night in months?

Well first.. I unloaded my massive amounts of stuff and currently I am watching my John Mayer Where the Light is Concert DVD on our new TV (the early family christmas present) with surround sound. It basically feels like I'm AT the concert, and my heart is melting. I am in love with JM in case you didn't already know. He is my man, and I will one day marry him. ;)

And in a short bit I will be watching the Christmas episode of GLEE, I am beyond pumped about it. The previews alone have had me cracking up, Sue Sylvester rigging the Secret Santa? Too funny.

Followed by... a Spontaneous trip to Sonic with Ally? I think yes. We just planned it as I'm typing this blogpost and I couldn't be more excited.

And for Tomorrow... I will be doing a little Christmas Shopping.. working on my Christmas sock swap and the likes. Possibly hitting up Goodwill with Ally to see what kind of junk we can find... it's a new hobby. We have to find stuff for next year's apartment ;) And last but not least, planting my little booty in front of the fireplace tomorrow evening for some relaxation.

John Mayer

Last night was the John Mayer concert and it. was. AMAZING.

We had sooo much fun! And of course he put on a flawless show as usual! He even played Free Fallin' and Sittin on the Dock of The Bay.. I was in love. Here's some pictures from last night!
