Peanut Butter Bars

If you like Reese's, this post is for YOU.
We have a recipe that is a family favorite, a lady at our church makes these Peanut Butter Bars for Holy Week each year and everyone fights over them. They're heavenly! Mal and I were craving them last night.. so we whipped up a batch! ;)

We didn't take too many pictures during the mixing process, because it looks like any other cookie recipe. But we did take some Photobooth pics of ourselves... we were pumped for baking

And before we knew it, we had the finished product.. Delicious!
The Recipe:
Peanut Butter Bars
 3/4 C. Margarine
 3/4 C. brown sugar
 3/4 C. Sugar
 2 eggs
 3/4 C. peanut butter
 1/2 tsp. salt
 3/4 tsp. baking soda
 1/2 tsp. vanilla
 1 1/2 C. flour
 1 1/2 C. oats
 1 C. whipped peanut butter

With electric mixer, cream margarine, brown sugar, sugar, and vanilla. Add peanut butter. Add eggs, 1 at a time. Mix well. Add salt, soda, and flour. Stir in oats. Spread dough onto 10x15" cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool cookie while you whip 1 cup peanut butter with electric mixer. Spread whipped peanut butter on warm cookie. Cool completely. Frost with Chocolate Frosting. Cut into bars.

CHOCOLATE FROSTING:
3/4 C. margarine
3 T. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
3 T. milk
1 box powdered sugar

In large saucepan, melt margarine. Add cocoa and vanilla. Add powdered sugar and milk. Stir until well mixed.

You have to try these this weekend! And they're good warmed a little bit with some ice cream on top too ;)

Summer Reads

Blogging in the Summer is really hard.
My brain doesn't feel like thinking.. so I don't come up with great blogposts. And on top of that.. I don't really do much that IS interesting enough to share with you.
Basically, over the last week I've been reading my tail off.. and if you've noticed I've added a Reading List tab at the top of my page to link you to a page of the books I've read this year.

If you're like me and LOVE to read.. make sure you check out The Hunger Games series. My sweet friend Melissa told me about them and I can't get enough! I'm waiting on the third one to make it to my library.

I also love reading books that you sweet bloggers suggest, because we all seem to have similar taste! I've finally made it through the last list I was recommended.. and I have a few more on my nightstand. But I'm ready for more recommendations! Send them my way so I can have a lengthy pile of books to read!

What are some of your favorite reads this summer?

I Just Loooove Surprise Parties!!

Poor Mal had cheerleading practice and then work yesterday on her birthday.
So she thought we weren't going to do anything special, other than go out to dinner with just our family.
Little did she know....
We had been planning a Surprise Party!
We loaded up her friends in the suburban and went to pick her up from work at 6!
They hid in the very back, so when she got in she wouldn't see them. Several minutes after she got in the car they all popped out and surprised her! She was so surprised!
Then we gave her 20 minutes to change and headed to the Cheesecake Factory in the ATL!
We had a great time! And I have a new favorite cheesecake now.. I ordered the White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.. To. Die. For. It was sooo good! And I've definitely gained back every pound I lost during my wisdom teeth removal last night. (but it was definitely worth it!)

here's a pic of our family before we left:

and this one I just thought was cute! I love candid shots:

Mallory definitely had a great 16th birthday! And we had so much fun planning it!
Now she is officially a licensed driver... I can't believe it!

Hope y'all are having a great Thursday!!

Sweet Sixteen!

Today we're wishing my sweet, little sister Mallory a very Happy Birthday!!
It's her Sweet 16 and she woke up to a pile of sixteen presents waiting for her in the kitchen!
Mama and I spent hours getting all of these, and wrapping them up! My favorite part is the glittery number tags we attached to each one. We had them numbered so she opened them in order.
Some of the gifts were really small. One was a pack of gum, one was a monogram decal for her car, one was chapstick.. and then they all led up to the bigger ones.

Her face when she walked in was priceless! She definitely didn't expect to see so many pretty packages!

All of the gifts led up to number 15, a pair of pearl earrings she's been wanting...
and number 16, the keys to the Mini Cooper. (it was my dad's car.. and now it's officially Mal's!)

Tomorrow morning she's going to take her driving test.. eek!! I can't believe she's 16!!

but in the meantime... we still have a few more surprises up our sleeves! I'll share the rest tomorrow ;)

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
