Bye Bye Betsy!

I haven't blogged about it.. 

but I've had some serious car issues lately.

In the past month my car has broken down twice, and been in the shop for repairs that were supposed to have been fixed previously. We are over VW to say the least. So upon picking Betsy the VW beetle up from VW, we drove straight to carmax to get her little self appraised.

Then we went car shopping. 

We hit up Nissan first, and test drove the Rogue. Test driving cars makes me nervous.. it felt like I was 16 again and taking my driving test.. but I survived! Then we went to Hyundai and test drove the Elantra. We have been researching cars online since my car broke down the other night for the 3rd time in the last 6 months, and had narrowed down our options. 

By the end of the day we ended up back at Nissan, had them appraise Betsy.. figure up payment plans and ladies and gents: We traded sweet little Betsy in for a 2011 Rogue! I am so incredibly excited!!

It was hard to say goodbye to her though, we've been through a lot together. I got Betsy December of 2005 before I turned 16, and she's a 2002 VW turbo.. with only 83,000 miles. You would expect a car to last longer than that. So enough of my blubbering.. here's our last picture together. :'(

Sadly the dealership didn't have the Rogue in the color we wanted, so my White Rogue is currently in transit and should be there for me to pick up soon! It's going to be so nice to drive a car that I don't have to worry about car problems with. Tow trucks are not fun.. and multiple repairs aren't either. 

But I definitely plan on a Memorial post for sweet Betsy.. or should it be Honorary Post? She isn't exactly dead.. but it's kind of in memory of her.. I'm stumped with that one.

On the Road Again..

I never got the chance to blog about this.. but about 2 weeks ago.. on a Thursday afternoon I went to get in my car and go to Walmart. Well, my car decided she didn't wanna crank. She cranked up but then kept immediately dying. And I know NOTHING about cars.. but daddy said to look under the hood and make sure everything is attached properly. To which I said.. "are you kidding? How am I supposed to know?"

Well Ally and I ventured out to look under the hood.. and lo and behold some tube that comes out of the engine was broken in half.

So I had to call a mechanic, describe the problem, and then he referred me to a tow truck service. And if you know anything about me, I HATE calling people. I never know what to say.. and particularly when it comes to mechanics. Car issues are a BOY job. That's mine and mama's policy. But I survived. And had to camp out in the parking lot to wait on the tow truck to arrive and tow my sweet Betsy away. So Ally took tons of photos to document:

Well FINALLY today they called and my car was fixed and ready to be picked up! Betsy is running smooth as EVER and I'm pumped to finally not have to rely on Ally to be my personal chauffeur. I promised her I'd drive her everywhere for 2 weeks! ;)

Betsy's Sick

For about 2 weeks now my poor little car, nicknamed Betsy, has had trouble cranking. So today when I got home from school me and my dad went to Advance Auto Parts to get the battery checked. Well... the trip that was supposed to take 30 minutes took over an hour.

Since my car is a VW and the battery is in a very inconvenient spot only professionals are supposed to handle it, but the nice guy working helped me and my dad get it out anyways. They tested it and it was completely dead.. so they put it on the charger for 30 minutes and we shopped around the car stuff. (how exciting.. not!) I got me some new windshield wipers though :) And then after 30 minutes the verdict was.. that my battery was bad! ugh! Well then.. come to find out, my battery is still under warranty so we get a new one for free!! BUT (there always seems to be a but) they were out of the battery we needed. Lovely. After calling all surrounding stores, including the one up at school, no one had the battery I need. No one.

So poor little Betsy is going to have to wait a week while they order it from Bangladesh or wherever it comes from. Who knows.

As for my weekend.. I am so excited it is finally here!! Now time to crack open the books and jump on some homework.. oh I wish I was that motivated. Instead I'll probably be reading my "pleasure reading" right now because it is sooooo good. If you need a book to read.. check this one out.
