Broom Standing Up??

Whaaaat?!
Have y'all heard of a broom standing straight up on its own when the planets all align?
Jasmine was on facebook and saw a bunch of her friends posting pictures of their brooms standing up... so we tried it, and it worked.

but my question is: does it do this all the time?
and I'm not gonna lie... it's kind of creepy looking.

I mean... how often does anyone actually try to stand their broom up on its own?
Is this all some hoax and I'm so gullible I believe it?
I need truth! ;)

  1. my boyfriend was freaking out about this last weekend! i think it must be a hoax, because it's supposed to be a one-day event, but i'm pretty sure you can get a broom to stand up anytime if you balance it the right way. crazy though!

  2. Okay, I just went downstairs and made daddy try this with me right before I saw you had posted this. I had seen something on Facebook about the gravitational pull. But I just googled it and it said it has to do with the broom's center of gravity and the support of the bristles, not with anything about the planets. I wasn't sure whether or not to believe all the posts on Facebook either...

  5. Ahhhh.... this is creeping me out a little! Haha. My family has used a Swiffer for as long as I remember, and that's what I use in my apartment, too. Now I wonder if we could get the handle to stay up straight if we balanced it right? Hmm....

  16. I tried it and mine didn't work. I'm guessing it has more to do with the broom then the plants. haha

  19. I am a science nerd, and tried it with every broom I could find. It worked! So, yeah, not a hoax. And it has to do with the gravitational pull(: super cool

  20. @Brandi, since you are a "science nerd" can you explain to me how the gravitational pull is affecting the broom standing up on its own? Thanks, I am a bullshit nerd...

  21. It can be done on any day of the year. This hoax has popped up before with different explanations. Try it in a month - it will still work. Not saying it isn't cool to see or do, but people are always so willing to believe in supernatural reasons when sometimes it just is. I mean how often do you stand your broom up to know it can happen every time?
