Friday + Blog Award

Happy Friday ya'll!!

and it's a 3-day weekend!

anyone doing anything exciting?

I don't really have much planned today, but lately I've been so thankful to receive so many awards from my sweet blog readers ;)

Rachel @ A Life So Lovely passed me this lovely award today!

So for this award I'm supposed to really open up to my readers.

Here it goes..

I come across as a really quiet person.. shy... timid... whatever you want to call it.

And my whole life I've struggled with opening up to people when I first meet them. I'll be honest, I struggle making conversation with people I don't know. I mean.. I really, really envy you folks who can talk to a cardboard box. I was the kid in preschool who didn't tell the teacher when she had to use the bathroom. (yes, that kid.)

Along with people thinking your quiet.. comes people thinking your stuck up. I swear to you I'm not a snob. But, all through high school and even now in college people would think I'm snobby because I'm quiet. Not cool.

I wish I could be the way I am around my close friends with everyone I meet. Most of my friends say I'm one of the funniest people they know.. but I just can't cut up the same way with other folks.

With that all being said, don't think I'm not friendly. I'm one of those people that tries to say hey to every single person I know when I pass them around campus. (and I can't stand when people go out of their way to ignore you so they don't have to say hey.. pet peeve.) In high school I was voted Friendliest.. so obviously someone thinks I'm friendly and outgoing ;)

Anyways.. it's one of those things that I try to work on constantly.. and I think people are just born having the ability to talk to a wall sometimes.. but this girl is trying to learn how. (really hard.)

So now that I've poured my little heart out I'll move on.

Snow WEEK.

Well the snow is STILL here.

So after 3 days of cancelled classes they finally decided to make us all come back.

While, every surrounding county, and the county our college is IN cancelled school for the entire week.

LAME.

But I can't complain, I really enjoyed having a few days off to spend with my family!

Here's our snowman we built on snow day #2:

Campus was closed today until 9:30.. and my only Thursday class is at 8am..

So I didn't have ANY classes today.

So as a result, Ally and I decided to scrub our nasty kitchen.

Y'all, I'm embarrassed of how bad it had gotten, but I have a problem cleaning up OTHER people's messes.. and I try to be stubborn and wait for them to pitch in.. but after awhile you just have to suck it up and do it yourself.

So we hit up Walmart to stock up on FUN cleaning brushes and bucket!

Yes, we are complete nerds at the fact that the following scene thrilled us:

So naturally, we bought a selection of 6 brushes!

pardon the roughness.. I'm just trying to be real for you. This is how I look when I clean! ;)

And let me just say, there is nothing like the smell of pine sol!

ahhh...The apartment smells AMAZING.

We spent 3 hours cleaning the whole place head to toe.. and I feel so accomplished!

Let's just hope it stays clean for a while ;)

Trapped in a Snow globe!

This morning we woke to a Winter Wonderland.

Everything was coated in white, fluffy powder.

We suited up in our snow suits,

And ventured out.

Then we suited back up in warm clothes to take a walk around the neighborhood!

On our walk we ran into Ally, Caleb, Griffin, and Clay! (perk of living in a small town!)
And they were going sledding in the nearby cemetery that has a HUGE hill.. So we walked over there to join them for a bit!

At this point it was sleeting.. and my hair was partially frozen. Can you say cold?!

Then we came home, ate a bowl of chili, and warmed up by the fire!

I just can't weed out pictures too easily!

We ended up walking about 3 miles today in the snow.. but it was SO much fun! I'm so glad I got to spend this snow day at home with my family :) And guess what, Tomorrow I get to spend ANOTHER one with them.. school got cancelled again! So we've already planned to get up and go sledding.. I'm pumped.

Hope the rest of you Southerners enjoyed the snow as much as us!!

Now time to go cuddle up next to the fire again,

So now I get to share 7 random facts about myself..

1. I've had braces twice, and wear my retainer religiously. Listen peeps.. I don't want braces again.. they are not fun! and not cute! I mean.. look at THIS brace face:

(Okay.. I'm not gonna lie.. I chose one of my better pictures with braces, because braces mixed with awkward freshman year of high school makes for embarrassing pictures. Forgive me! :) )

2. I despise calling people for business reasons.. like calling Barnes and Noble to see if they have a book I need.. or calling the auto repair shop to describe why my car won't crank. I hate it.. I feel like I'll say the wrong thing and they won't know what I'm talking about.

3. Money burns a hole in my pocket! I wish I was a saver like my little sister.. but I just LOVE shopping!

4. I was a lifeguard for 2 summers at the county pool.. I got a killer tan those summers! Oh how I wish I still had it! ;) But you can only imagine the kind of people you see at the public pools... you don't want to know the things I've seen!.. and the things I've had to clean up. It was a character builder. A true, character builder.

5. My family has always dreamed of being on the Amazing Race.. aka THE best show of all time. In fact, we applied for the family edition a few years ago.. and for whatever reason they didn't pick us. Basically, they lost the chance for a lot of ratings without having us on there ;)

6. I still have 3 great-grandmothers, all in their 90s!

7. My nerdy self actually really enjoys Organic Chemistry, as much as it's killing me. Don't judge.

My weekend was basically just MADE because I got a text from my school saying classes are CANCELLED for tomorrow, because they're expecting 8 inches of snow. Soooo.. now I get to stay home with my family an extra day!
