Oreo Truffle Surprise Cookies

Last night the roomies and I made these Oreo Truffle Surprise Cookies from Picky-Palate.

If you want the recipe check it out here. I found the recipe in the morning and showed it to Ally who was having a terrible day and she said, "We must make these!!! How about today!?" So we hit up Walmart and got all of our ingredients and made these delicious cookies at 9:00 last night.

We've decided that Walmart should pay us for advertising Great Value products. I mean, we live off great value brand since we're broke college students!

As we were mixing ingredients and reading the instructions we ran into a snag. We don't have a food processor in the apartment. Because really.. how often do you use one of those?! The oreos had to be ground finely for the truffles and so Ally got out wax paper and the meat tenderizer/mallet and started banging away at those oreos. (pictured below)

Not 5 minutes later we hear banging coming from the apartment below us. Apparently crushing our oreos was too loud for them, even though we put up with far worse noise 24 hours a day from the folks above us. So then considerate Ally tried to crush them softly without making much noise and I'm not sure it did much good.. but the truffles ended up working out just fine!

As soon as these cookies popped out of the oven we were ready to taste, they smelled delicious. The bites with the oreo truffle were the best.. It made our horrific week a little sweeter. :)

Now I'm off to spend the day studying for a massive chem test tomorrow. Pray for me, because I need all the prayers I can get on this one!

Finishing it Off

This fall weather is just so wonderful! This morning I woke up and it was in the 50s outside!! And now it's barely into the seventies. So I'm getting really excited about pulling out my fall and winter clothes. I love wearing all of my scarves and turtlenecks with cute flats around campus. So in honor of fall, my Dad is going to take my pictures today so I can have a new fall profile picture :) Gotta love having a photographer for your daddy! So I'll be posting that up shortly, and in the meantime I'm going to finish off the blogging challenge.

Day 9: Two words that describe your life right now.

1. Happy

• I'm having so much fun with my life right now, despite the hard school work. Loving my roommates, friends, and all the fun times we have together.

2. Blessed

• I've been so blessed to have such wonderful people come into my life over the past year. Without them there is NO way I could get through my school work everyday. I'm been blessed to go to my lovely college, which I absolutely love and I dread having to leave it one day. This past year has just been such a year of blessings and I'm so thankful for each one of them.

Day 10: One confession.

Me and Ally pretend to have a cooking show everyday at lunch, and occasionally at dinner. We know it's weird, but it makes cooking 10x more fun. Our show is a mixture of Cooking with Paula and Cooking with the Neely's. We love it. And I KNOW you wish it actually aired on food network so YOU could watch. ;) Maybe one of these days...

Hey hot stuff!

I'm going to be honest with you, this blogging challenge is starting to get old. I mean, I'm gonna finish it out and all but I'm getting tired of having to blog about this stuff because A) It's hard & B) I have other things I'd rather talk about. But here we go for Day 8.. almost done!!

Day 8: 3 Turn Ons

1. Sense of Humor

• I love a guy with a good sense of humor, if you can't make me laugh or laugh at funny stuff I say, then so long buck-o. Me, Ally, & Emily have developed a "test" for people. I have this ellen degeneres stand up dvd "here & now" and it is HILARIOUS. It will have you rolling, so we always make people watch it, and if they don't laugh then clearly there is something wrong with them. :) (in our eyes at least!)

2. Good Smile

• Not that looks are everything. But I can't handle nasty teeth, and there's nothing like a beautiful smile from a boy to make your heart flutter. And the cutest thing is when a guy does that little smirk, like trying not to smile but somewhat smiling because he's amused. (Robert Pattinson does this a good bit) So sexy.

3. Not being afraid to show a sensitive side

• I like when a guy isn't afraid to express his feelings. Being macho man all the time isn't real to me, I like to know that a guy is confident enough to tone down the masculine stuff and not be afraid if something is girly.

What A Turn off!!

Today's topic is Turn offs.. and most of mine are the same as Jess, I think she summed it up pretty well. I'll try to be creative and think of some different ones, but it's been a long week and I'm tired.

Day 7: Four turn offs.

1. Cussing

• A few words here and there are alright.. but drop the F-bomb and GD and peace out. That just does not fly with me. I mean everyone has slip ups, but when it gets to the point that your sentences hardly make sense you have so many cuss words ask yourself, "why is that really necessary?"

2. Chewing with your mouth open

• Did you not learn anything as a child? Don't chew with your mouth open AND don't slurp your drink through your straw. No I don't like "SEE food" haha

3. Disrespect

• I have a real problem with people who show no respect to other people, particularly their elders. This problem is more prevalent in high school because of the kids that just don't care and have no motivation for anything.. But I really can't stand to see a guy disrespect a girl. Or kids disrespect their parents.

4. Big Ego

• I can't stand when people think they are THE BOMB dot COM and they just aren't. Glad you have confidence and all.. but dang. You are not God's gift to the world.

Anyways.. Tonight in the midst of my "biology lab study group" my friends from my freshmen dorm hall threw me a surprise party for my birthday. And I was definitely surprised because A) my birthday was a week and a half ago and B) I was 100% in study mode and not expecting it. Unfortunately I have no pictures because I forgot my camera of course.. but I will post some later. :) Sooo happy tomorrow is Thursday meaning.. 1 day closer to the weekend!!

Meaningful people..

Blogging challenge Day 6, And it's hard to put into words how much these people mean to me.. I've never been good at writing this kind of stuff. Yearbook day was always the worst because I struggle putting my feelings into words.. but I'm giving it a shot.

Day 6: Five people who mean a lot to you.

1. My parents

• I am so blessed to have such wonderful parents in my life. They understand the importance of school and good grades, and unlike many other college students I don't have the pressure of working on top of schoolwork. They're always there for me when I'm having a bad day, and make it THAT much harder every time I have to leave home and go back to school.

2. Mallory

• Well I already wrote to your sweet little self in the first day of blogging challenge.. So I'll try not to repeat everything I already said.. I'm so blessed to have a little sister like you. I know I was a bossy big sister when you were little, so I'm sorry for forcing you to be my student when we played school. But you know it was fun, and you learned algebra at age 6, so you can thank me for that! :) Love you little Mal!!

3. Ally

• Wellst.. you and me are apparently sisters separated at birth because we have WAY too much in common. To the point that it's extremely weird, but I totally love it. I'm so happy I have you to act like a fool with because otherwise, I don't know how I would get through all the misery that college inflicts on our lives. I love you my S.S. and I can't wait for all of the memories we have ahead of us!

4. Jessica

• It's hard to believe that we haven't even known each other a full year because it seems like a lifetime! You are one of the sweetest and most beautiful people I know and I'm so happy we have gotten to know each other so well, and share a love for John Mayer. ;) I wish so badly we could rewind to those good days of summer.. but I'm excited about us cooking dinners on thursdays!! Love you!

5. Patrick

• I don't know where I'd be without you pT, you have been there for me through everything and you truly are my best friend. Who would've known that such a wonderful friendship would grow out of a freshmen homecoming date? You know how to cheer me up, calm me down, and most of all you tell me sweet things when I need to hear them most. I love you sweet boy! :)
